Landmarks and Such

I had to share some great pictures of the kids and their awesome landmark projects. This was a new experiment this year and they seemed to love it. I've had tons of great feedback from other teachers, students and parents. I guess it's a keeper!! They did great! Enjoy!

 

 

Welcome to 2014---brrrr!

Welcome to 2014 everyone. I have been slacking on my blog again, but as I'm sure you've heard we added a new puppy in October and she kept us pretty busy. She's come a long way in two and a half months, so I hope to do more posting.

Hope everyone had great holidays!! We will start off the new year with Flat Stanley, so keep your eyes open for information about this project coming home soon. Also we'll be trying a new Spelling system that will help bridge from Voweletics Spelling to the 3rd grade system.

Stay warm tomorrow--one more day to our break I guess. I'm ready to get back to the kids. (don't tell them but I was starting to miss them!!)

Time Flies

I have to apologize for taking so long to get a post on here. It seems that the beginning of the year gets full and goes fast. We've settled into a nice routine and are going strong. I am enjoying getting to know all of the children!

A main focus of our day is Daily 5 when the students get to work on reading, writing, word work, technology, listening, partner reading, journal writing and much more. It is a great all inclusive way to touch on all the language arts. Here are some pictures of the class enjoying our new Ipads. We use them to reenforce skills that we are working on, for instance math facts, nouns, complete sentences, etc. Also you can see the students writing and working with words. They Love Daily 5!!

 

 

A New Year Begins

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year!!
It's hard to believe it's here already. We've had 2 and a half days and are ready for a full week. Here are some quick pictures of the class working. I hope over the year you find our blog fun and informative. There's always something going on in the class that's news worthy!!

Dog Day 2013

In case you didn't hear we had DOGS at school!!! Second grade had their annual "Dog Day" on Thursday and it was great fun!! We had a Search and Rescue team as well as some therapy dogs in the morning. In the afternoon we had Scott County Kennel Club members come and share their dogs with us. They did some obedience, agility and nose work. The kids learned a ton and had a great time!
