Welcome to 2B's Blog!!
As many of you know we finished off our Egyptian theme this Friday with our Egyptian parade and party. There was a ton of fun to be had. The students looked great in their costumes!! They got to participate in various activities such as being wrapped like a mummy, pyramid stacking, pin the goatee on the pharaoh, and of course we had some Egyptian food!! It was a great way to end the theme and the children enjoyed themselves!
A HUGE THANKS to all the parents, and grandparents, that help with anything and everything for the party!!
Here are some mummified second graders and a few pyramid builders!
We've begun to talk about Ancient Egypt and the Egyptians. The students learned about the double crown of Egypt. They had a good time making one of their own. Each pharaoh and pharaohess looked great!! They did say that being king or queen would be great--all except for the mummifying part!!
Here are some pictures of the 2B Egyptian rulers.
Hard to believe that we're in the last quarter of school--time sure flies. Seems like everyone had a great Spring Break and is well rested and ready to get back to work (ok maybe some of us aren't, but we're getting there). We'll be exploring ancient Egypt and having our Egyptian party. After that we'll learn about dogs and dog safety and end the year with "Dog Day". So much to do and a short 9 weeks to do it in!!
Today we welcomed Flat Stanley back to our room with an open house. It was so nice to see so many parents and grandparents come in to see Stanley's many adventures! Stanley sure was a busy guy! He traveled to many places--from Wisconsin to New York to Guam and Turkey!! The class had a wonderful time checking out all the posters and books that each student created. This project was fun and super educational!!
Here's a couple pictures of the open house.
On Friday the class had the privilege of going to Genesis Heart Institute. It was a great trip!! They learned how to keep their heart healthy and what people do if they have had heart problems and need rehab. They toured the Medic station and ambulances. Each student got a chance to get an echocardiograph of their heart--AWESOME!! They also learned about what happens when/if they ever come into the ER and so much more!
Ben was a great volunteer as you can see from the pictures. It was a great learning experience for all. I hope the class will remember all they learned for a long time and take care of their hearts!!
